Evangeline (or, the grief that does not speak, whispers the o’fraught heart, and bids it break) is a 40-minute interactive live-art work that delves into the heart of grief. Arising from the form of Butoh, Evangeline takes its inspiration from the body memory of grief, heartbreak and loss. How each of us journeys through the various stages of grief is highly individual and, often, solitary - but, equally as often, the thing that helps us clamber out of its depths is wholly universal and deeply healing: connection, kindness and love.

Evangeline was first presented as a work-in-progress showing at Art Not Apart in Canberra in 2015 before being further developed for a full season at Canberra Theatre later that year. Evangeline has since been presented at Adelaide Fringe Festival in 2019, where it won an award for Best Circus/Physical Theatre, and Sydney Fringe Festival in the same year, where it received the Best In Theatre Award, Fringe Directors Award and NIDA Director of the Year Award for Chenoeh Miller.
